The black has to die first – पहले काला मरेगा

In a Hollywood movie an African origin character Mr. Kol says to his white boss, "I know the black has to die first." Is it not ironical that a victim of racism is saying so?

I recollected this dialogue while reading a news regarding death of 24,000 children in Maharashtra State last year. They died of malnutrition. In a civilized country citizens may die of malnutrition but they do not die of hunger as the government definition of hunger  does not allow them to die of hunger. Moreover, malnutrition is not a matter of national shame.

Photographs show that children those who died were black, of course with straight hair. Nobody would have created a problem even if names of two ‘killers’ of children were published. The killers were Corruption and Indian Apartheid.  We all know that the pattern of 'corruption' in the country is based on our own local 'apartheid' and racism/casteism.

So, when, in any case, the black has to die first, let us express sort of condolences. The rest can be thought of later to design the format of condolence. 

हॉलीवुड की एक फिल्म में अफ़्रीकी मूल का एक पात्र 'मिस्टर कोल' अपने गोरे बॉस को कहता है, “मैं जानता हूँ कि पहले काले को मरना होगा.” रंगभेद के शिकार का ऐसा कहना मज़ेदार है न? 

पता नहीं क्यों इसकी याद हो आई जब महाराष्ट्र राज्य में पिछले वर्ष 24000 बच्चों के कुपोषण से मरने की खबर छपी. एक सभ्य देश में नागरिक भूख से नहीं मर सकते क्योंकि सरकार की भूख की परिभाषा उन्हें भूख से मरने की अनुमति नहीं देती, हाँ वे कुपोषण से मर सकते हैं. और बच्चों का कुपोषण राष्ट्रीय शर्म का मुद्दा भी नहीं है.

फोटो बताते हैं कि मरने वाले बच्चे काले थे. जिन्होंने उनकी हत्या की है उन दो हत्यारों का नाम भी बता दिया गया होता तो कोई बवाल भी होने वाला नहीं था. हत्यारों में एक भ्रष्टाचार है और दूसरा भारतीय रंगभेद. सभी जानते हैं कि देश में भ्रष्टाचार का पैटर्न हमारे अपने स्थानीय 'रंगभेद' और वंशवाद/जातिवाद पर आधारित है.

अब क्योंकि पहले काले को ही मरना है सो थोड़ा अफ़सोस-ववसोस करते चलते हैं, बाकी फिर कभी सोचा जा सकता है कि अफ़सोस जताने का नया फार्मेट क्या हो.
