Kelly Lane is 11 years old and he has a passion for reading and writing. I came to know about him through his father Dr. David C. Lane. I have never met them but I have been familiar with the work of Dr. Lane regarding Indian Sage Baba Faqir Chand for the past few decades.
Kelly is an example which explains the importance of scientific attitude in education. He has been provided opportunities by his parents to read and write and develop in various dimensions of life. Both parents are professors of philosophy. You might think why I chose an American child to underline the importance of education. Keep reading, you will understand. Kelly has visited India and seen Agra, Amritsar etc.
Here in India we are taught religious, mythological and devotional literature which settles in the mind of the children and it is done in the name of literature, history and moral education. We all know that a child's brain is like raw material which becomes manufactured product for the society and finally makes the society itself. If we do not develop scientific temperament in children then you can imagine what would be the finished product.
We have here a complete arrangement to keep the scientific thinking undeveloped, though Indian constitution resolves to develop scientific temperament. We are quite behind in the race of scientific inventions and knowledge. Science has created new areas of employment opportunities and our young generation is not much aware of it. One of those new areas pertains to Artificial Intelligence (A.I., Artificial Intelligence) (including robotics and automation), that has changed the role of humans in production and services.
During British regime, Lord Macaulay's education policy ensured actual spread of education in India. As a result a large number of youngsters from different levels of society got an opportunity to get basic education and India, thereafter, got better connected with rest of the world. Many reforms took place. A class with scientific knowledge emerged and that resulted in change in people's traditional thinking about religion and society. To be precise, human rights were introduced. Still many changes are awaited before common man can understand the new developments in science, specially Artificial Intelligence.
11-year-old Kelly has known about this artificial intelligence and has completed a project on it - ‘WHEN COMPUTERS BECOME HUMAN: A KID'S GUIDE TO THE FUTURE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE’. It is in many formats - completely colorful paperback, kindle e-book and a film (embedded below). His teachers and parents must have played their role in the project. However, for me, what important is that Kelly is being prepared to know various aspects of artificial intelligence and also philosophical thought related to it. Kelly is fond of reading and writing. But that does not mean that Kelly has become a child engaged only in books. A family friend of Lanes’, Glenda Fields, told me via Facebook, "Have you met Kelly? I met him a few months ago. He is a very delightful, happy young man! Huge, huge, smile!" That tells about the family atmosphere in which Kelly is growing up.
Recently, Dr. David C. Lane told about a recent proposal from a Chinese publisher to publish the above mentioned book in Chinese language and distribute it in China. Congratulations to Kelly and his parents.
Watch the video below. You will find that this book raises a question in your mind as to how long artificial intelligence and human consciousness would continue to dwell separately? Will artificial intelligence envelop or overshadow human consciousness? Hopefully these questions will be answered by Kelly and children like him when they grow up.

हमारे यहाँ साहित्य, इतिहास, नैतिक शिक्षा के नाम पर धार्मिक, मिथिकल और भक्ति साहित्य बच्चे के दिमाग़ में ठूँस दिया जाता है. बच्चे का दिमाग़ एक तरह का कच्चा माल होता है जिससे समाज के लिए तैयार माल बनता है और ख़ुद समाज भी बनता है. जब वैज्ञानिक समझ नहीं बनेगी तो समझ लीजिए कि हमारे तैयार माल और समाज का स्वरूप कैसा होगा या है.
